Evan Hughes has been designing and building one of a kind and limited edition furniture since 1978. His commission work can be found in numerous private collections and has been exhibited at the ICFF, NYC, Brooklyn Designs, Brooklyn, NY, Philadelphia furniture and furnishings show, Philadelphia, PA, the Rotunda Gallery in Brooklyn, NY and the Franz Bader Gallery in Washington, DC. Reviews and articles about his work have appeared in several national books and periodicals.

His work with artists including Richard Artschwager, Frank Stella, Mike Kelley and others can be found in museums and private collections internationally.

Hughes was born in Washington, DC in 1956. He studied at the School of American Craftsman at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York (1975-1978). He has lived in New York City and his studio has been located at the Brooklyn Navy Yard since 1990.
